Nestled in the heart of Sentul since 1908, the Catholic Church of St. Joseph, Sentul is a beloved landmark—quietly witnessing over a century of faith, community, and transformation. Here’s a heartwarming story that unfolds through its history:
In May 2008, the parish celebrated its centenary with thousands of Catholics and friends gathering for evening prayer and a procession honoring St. Joseph. The Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur led the mass, joined by many priests who had shepherded generations of Sentul’s faithful.
St. Joseph’s has also been a home of quiet compassion. It supported migrant families, helped with paperwork campaigns like “My Daftar,” and reached out across faiths. As the Sentul neighbourhood evolved, so did the church—unwavering in its spiritual calling and community care.
From its humble structures and old wooden pews (which some liken to penance) to modern additions of classrooms and meeting rooms, the church adapts while keeping its warm, airy charm. It also now embraces digital practices—online offertory, livestreamed services, and more—to best serve today’s faithful .
